The Holy Spirit and Holy Family Catholic Churches of Mitchell confirm those in their sophomore year of high school. To register or request more information, contact the Faith Formation office


Adults desiring the Sacrament of Confirmation and wanting to join the Catholic Church can participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Classes are typically held during the evening, once per week, from September - April. To register or request more information, contact the Faith Formation office.

Confirmation Myths and Truths

Confirmation is NOT:

  1.  Graduation from Religious Education classes
  2. “Becoming an adult” in the church.  It’s not the Catholic version of a bar/ bat mitzvah. 
  3.   ‘Choosing to be Catholic’ 
  4. ‘Jumping through hoops’

Confirmation IS:

  1. The beginning of the journey as fully initiated Catholics!
  2.  Confirmation is about a sacrament, not about age or maturity.
  3.  Confirmation is one of the sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church, along with Baptism and Holy Communion.
